Madison Johnson serves as a Communications Coordinator for Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less and Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes, a collaborative effort of NC State University and the NC Division of Public Health. Madison has worked with the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less and Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes team since 2012. She is responsible for digital communication for the program, including but not limited to, email marketing, website optimization and social media.
Since 2013, Madison has managed the annual Eat Smart, Move More, Maintain Don’t Gain Holiday Challenge, an online program to help adults across the United States manage their weight throughout the holiday season. The Holiday Challenge has more than 28,000 participants from all 50 states, all 100 North Carolina counties, and 14 additional countries. Prior to working with the Eat Smart, Move More, Weigh Less and Eat Smart, Move More, Prevent Diabetes team, she served as a Research Assistant in the Physical Activity and Nutrition (PAN) Branch. Madison received her Master degree in Communication from East Carolina University, her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion from Appalachian State University, and a certificate in Social Media Management from NC State University. Madison enjoys running, hiking, reading, cooking and traveling; her most unique experience was shark cage diving in South Africa.
