Kristie Hicks serves as the Diabetes Program Assistant for the Community and Clinical Connections for Prevention and Health Branch. Prior to joining the CCCPH team, Kristie served as a Minority Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator and Lifestyle Coach in Eastern North Carolina. In this role, she coached groups of adults with prediabetes through a yearlong lifestyle change program. Kristie is passionate about chronic disease prevention and health education for youth, but also enjoys providing an interactive and supportive environment to enable people to live a healthier lifestyle. She has extensive experience in health education with a focus on nutrition education and hands-on cooking programs for underserved youth and adults. She is a proud public health Pirate, as she earned both a bachelor’s degree in Public Health Studies and Master of Public Health degree from East Carolina University. In her free time, Kristie enjoys cooking and reading, but she also serves as a youth and adult health educator for the Poe Center for Health Education, and the Administrative Assistant for the North Carolina Society for Public Health Education (NC SOPHE).
