The CCCPH Branch is partnering with the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust and the North Carolina Public Health Foundation to improve health through the Catalyst for Healthy Eating and Active Living (Catalyst).
Beaufort, Burke, Cleveland, Edgecombe, Halifax, McDowell, Nash and Rockingham counties participate in the Catalyst, which strives to create communities where people have access to healthy foods and places to be physically active. Catalyst Coordinators in these counties build collaboration among local, regional, and statewide organizations, link to resources and strengthen community involvement.
- Assisting farmers' markets in making healthy food accessible to low income customers through SNAP/EBT programs and related outreach and promotions.
- Working with schools to promote their playgrounds, trails and facilities as places people can be active.
- Ensuring that health is addressed in long-term plans that shape the future of our communities.
